Portoro, are on a mission to resurrect the authentic Italian espresso and share it with the world. Their commitment is simple - to serve you the best Italian espresso possible, made with love, pure and uncomplicated.

We were commissioned to create the naming, strategy and visual identity.

The brand is built around the act of coming together, prevalent within Italian culture. The logotype has been crafted to emphasise this, interlocking letters have come together to create a single form. Taking cues from the brand name, a rich Italian marble, we embraced heritage with a treatment reminiscent of Italian Renaissance engraving. 

The key action of the brand is the pouring of the espresso which has become the primary graphic for Portoro. As the coffee pours from the logotype, it takes shape of the espresso mug, revealing the marbled gold that the brand takes it's name from.

Following the same thinking of the patterned marque, the single stack of the lock-up can be rotated to visualise the coffee pouring down from the espresso machine.

Portoro

Alongside the Portoro brand, we created a sub-identity for Caffe Sospeso, the act of paying a coffee forward to those in need. A way to speak to Portoro’s community and embed the values and traditions of Italian coffee culture through out the brand.
